Purpose: To provide spiritual and emotional comfort and support to those who have experienced loss.
Mission: The Surviving Loss ministry seeks to provide emotional and spiritual comfort and support for those who experienced loss by providing opportunities for prayer, sharing, fellowship and support as well as being a source of referral and information.
Commitment: Full group meetings will be held at least annually. The core of the support will be through sharing groups. These will be created regularly to address the needs and topics of the community and as resources are available. Times and dates for small groups will be decided by groups formed.
Training: New members will participate in a brief orientation. Referrals can come through the staff or clergy or self-referral.
Opportunities: Surviving Loss members see their calling as providing support for those who have experienced loss. The support will be given in the form of:
Sharing groups related to specific types of loss
Spiritual services of prayer and meditation
Educational/informational sessions
Qualifications: Desire to participate, commitment to serving those who have suffered loss and an agreement to guard the confidentiality of all for what is shared.
