Sacristan

The Sacristan works closely with the Pastor and other ministries in the planning and execution of all liturgical celebrations.  The Sacristan ensures that the priest has the proper vestments for the liturgical celebration, ensures that the altar is properly prepared, and prepares the Sacramentary and Lectionary for the celebrant.  It is the responsibility of the Sacristan to see that the environment and materials used in the liturgy are conducive toward worship and community at all liturgical celebrations.  To accomplish this, the Sacristan is responsible for maintenance of the holy water fonts, various candles used in the sanctuary and throughout the Church, and maintaining a sufficient supply of altar breads and wine, candles, incense, charcoal, tapers and matches.  The Sacristans also insure that the sound, lights and air conditioning systems are set correctly.
