Confirmation Registration

Why Confirmation? 

Growth is vital to human life; the body and mind must grow to stay alive. As Catholics we believe that the soul also needs to grow to maturity in the life of grace, just as the human body must grow through childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. We believe the Sacrament of Confirmation is the supernatural equivalent of the growth process on the natural level. It builds on what was begun in Baptism and what was nourished in Holy Eucharist. It completes the process of initiation into the Christian community, and it matures the soul for the work ahead. 

This registration is for those youth who have already been participating within St. Jerome Youth Ministry in the previous year and who will be in high school in the Fall of 2021. 

What are the requirements to receive this Holy Sacrament? 

In order to be prepared to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation; you must first be:

• Attending Sunday Mass weekly
• Know the Lord through a personal relationship of prayer
• Be actively participating at Life Nights (or Edge in 8th grade year) and within youth ministry program at St. Jerome.

In addition, the teen must express a desire for the Sacrament of Confirmation (CCC 1128 - ..."Nevertheless, the fruits of the sacraments also depend on the disposition of the one who receives them"). Following the desire to receive the Holy Spirit, the teen and one parent will need to schedule and attend a Confirmation Registration Meeting in the summer during the open registration period.

All teens who desire the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Spring of 2024 who have met the above prerequisites must register via a Confirmation Registration Meeting during the open registration period - June 6, 2024 through August 11, 2024.  Those who are registered for Religious Education (Edge/Life Nights this year 2022/2023) yet have not been attending classes regularly will not be eligible to enter into Confirmation Preparation during this registration period. However, after completing their first full year of active regular participation within Religious Education in 2023/2024 they will be eligible to register for their Confirmation Candidacy Prep Year in 2024/2025.

What to bring to the Confirmation Registration Meeting:

1. One Parent & Registering Teen(s) need to be present at the meeting.

2. The Confirming Teen(s) Baptismal Certificate & 1st Communion Certificate

3. Please bring a copy of your child's Insurance Card (If applicable)

4. Please bring a registration fee of $50
