St. Jerome is looking to construct an on-campus rectory behind the Mother Teresa Center. The new rectory's preliminary design shows two separate living spaces for a priest and associate pastor. It will be ADA compliant.

Groundbreaking Photos from June 24, 2023
The warm weather did not deter over 100 parishioners from attending the groundbreaking for the Shepherd's House. The faithful joined in the Liturgy of the Word that was celebrated by Fr. James Ekeocha and Deacon Greg George. The choir led the congregation in song.
Preliminary floor plan and renderings:
The Operations & Facility Manager, Carl London, commented that the proposed rectory floor plan was developed in 1983 and resides at the St. Thomas More campus. The floorplan includes two separate living spaces with bath, small kitchenette, study, and patio. A separate bedroom and bath will be set-up in the common living quarters for visiting clergy. An Oratory can be used for spiritual direction, prayer, and worship. A common living and kitchen space will be available for hosting visitors. The design encompasses a total square footage slightly less than 2,600 sf.
Recent permits were pulled to begin the process of defining sewage, water, and electrical services needed to support the proposed rectory design. On May 30, 2023, the contract was signed by the Diocese and K4 Construction.
Project Rectory Math
Total Price of the New Rectory = $739,000
Sale of the old residence = + $400,000 to $500,000
Widening of Chapel Road by City of Waco = +$75,000
Shy of Cost to build debt free = ($165,000 to $265,000)
We do not intend to host a fundraising campaign for the gap in finances for the Shepherd(s) House. However, if you are interested or feel led to contribute a monetary gift, please contact Fr. James directly, or Mark Falsone or Mary Coleman in the church office.
The church will make payments on the financial gap until the loan is paid in full.
