Caritas of Waco is a very special agency sponsored by Waco Churches to give emergency assistance to the poor. It is chartered by the State of Texas and governed by a 16-member Board of Directors who represent the Baptist, Catholic, Episcopal, Jewish, Presbyterian, United Methodist, and Lutheran faiths.
Caritas provides direct aid to meet human needs that are of an emergency nature. It operates three thrift stores that provide clothing, appliances, and other items at a very low cost to those who can afford to pay and free of charge to those who cannot.
The Food for People program distributes edible surplus food directly to those in need and shares the surplus with other non-profit agencies. Caritas is located at 15th and Mary.

The group operates Caritas Thrift Store #2, makes visits to area nursing homes, and helps at Providence Hospital and the VA Medical Center.
