The worship and custody of the Holy Eucharist, independent of Mass and Holy Communion, can be traced to post-apostolic times. St. Justin, writing in his Apology around the year 150, says deacons were appointed to carry the Blessed Sacrament to those who were absent from the liturgy. Formal liturgical adoration of the Eucharist outside the Mass began in the eleventh century.
Eucharistic Adoration is your time to sit with Jesus as the two Apostles prayed with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. Come experience God’s love during this time of quiet with God. We need more people helping so we can increase the frequency of Adoration at St. Jerome. Our goal is to have Perpetual Adoration. To join this ministry you only have to bring your willingness to spend an hour with Jesus, He waits for you.
