The rite of Confirmation

Welcome to Confirmation Preparation

We welcome and prepare teens over a two-year period for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Candidates for Confirmation may begin preparation by attending Faith Formation (Life Night or Edge). Then, the following year, Confirmation classes Along wtih an addition year of Life Teen Faith Formation are the next step to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

During their preparation for Confirmation, each student will:

• Have opportunities to encounter Christ
• Understand the purpose, graces, and gifts of the Sacrament of Confirmation
• Recognize his/her personal gifts and the need the world has for them
• Receive mentorship, guidance, and support from faith-filled young adult leaders
• Get connected to his/her peers and mentors and become excited to continue growing in life-long discipleship with the Lord

What Are The Requirements?

Religious Education (Edge and/or Life Night) is different than Confirmation Preparation. After a teens first year of regularly attended Faith Formation (Life Night or Edge in a teens 8th grade year) teens are eligible to register for Confirmation Preparation.

The first step in registering is a Confirmation Registration Meeting with the Director of Youth Ministry. This meeting occurs during the summer before the teens immediate prep year. This means that a teens Immediate Preparation for Confirmation would take place during (and in addition to) their second consecutive year of Faith Formation (provided their 2nd consecutive year takes place their 9-12th grade year. This is why it is possible for an 8th grade youth to be confirmed in their 9th grade year.

The registration for the immediate preparation for Confirmation 2023/2024 is OPENED. Registration is only available for teens going into their 9-12 grade year, and who attended Youth Ministry regularly the prior year.
